The City of Box Elder unanimously approved Resolution 24-15 supporting an application to the South Dakota Housing and Development Authority (SDHDA) to seek housing development funding.
Nicole Schneider, the city administrator and chief finance officer, told the council the application is an additional effort to pursue funds that are returning to the state from other cities that missed application deadlines. “This is an additional application to see if we would be eligible for funds that are returning to the state, from cities that were not able to meet some of the deadlines,” Schneider said. She said she was available to answer questions; the council moved, seconded, and approved the resolution by roll call.
The resolution authorizes the city to pursue SDHDA assistance for housing development; Schneider did not specify project award amounts in the meeting.
