Edgerton awards one-year janitorial contract to Jani-King for city facilities

The Edgerton City Council voted 4-0 on Jan. 9 to award a one-year janitorial services contract to Jani-King of Kansas City for cleaning of City Hall, 414 Offices, Studio B Offices and The Greenspace.
Parks & Recreation Director Levi Meyer told the council the city issued an RFP to 16 providers and received seven proposals; two providers declined to bid, including the city's previous vendor. Each respondent toured all included facilities. Staff recommended Jani-King as the preferred provider based on its ability to meet the city's needs and its overall cost.
On cost, Meyer said, "Based on the scope of services outlined in the RFP, Jani-King proposed a monthly cost of $1,790 or $21,480 annually." Meyer added the higher cost compared with the previous provider primarily reflects inclusion of The Greenspace and an increased level of service for that new facility. The Finance Director indicated the 2025 Facilities Budget is adequate to cover the contract.
Councilmember Clay Longanecker moved to approve the one-year contract; Councilmember Deb Lebakken seconded. The motion passed 4-0.
The contract includes an opportunity for annual renewal depending on satisfaction and quality of service.
