The Borough of Lakehurst Mayor and Council approved a multi-item consent agenda and several procedural measures at its June 18 regular meeting. The consent agenda (Resolutions #26-119 through #26-130) covered routine actions including payment of bills, a proposed 2027 NJDOT grant application for Lake Street mill-and-overlay, renewal of three liquor licenses (Lakehurst VFW Post, Hanger 21, Fleet Reserve Association), personnel policy addenda on family leave and an AI policy, awards, and professional services agreements for NJDEP air-permit applications and a FY2026 DCIP water-main replacement application. The council approved the consent agenda by roll call; recorded votes show five members voting in favor and one absent.
The council also approved on second reading and adopted Ordinance #2026-03, which authorizes exceeding municipal budget appropriation limits and establishes a cap bank; the motion to adopt carried on a unanimous recorded vote of present members. Earlier in the meeting, the council passed Resolution #26-131 authorizing the budget to be read by title only.
Other procedural actions included approval of the minutes of the June 4, 2026 regular meeting and several personnel resignations and appointments documented in the meeting record. The meeting minutes also record the oath of office administered to Police Officer Jean Verrier III.
During public comment outside the consent items, business owner Heather Cramer thanked the borough for an Economic Development Authority meeting for local businesses, suggested distributing flyers for Spanish-speaking businesses, and said she felt heard after visits by Chief Kline and Council President Oglesby. Mayor Harry Robbins closed the meeting by reminding the public of fireworks on July 3, the July 4 parade and the next council meeting on July 16. The meeting adjourned at 8:07 p.m.
