Town Attorney Matthew Ramenda reported two legal settlements during the Feb. 9 meeting. He said the Bondar case related to short‑term rentals was resolved with a $15,000 settlement.
Ramenda also reported that the Alex Freeman case was settled for $580,000; he said outside counsel and the town’s insurance carrier handled the resolution. Commissioners did not take additional public action on the matters during the meeting, but the settlements were announced as part of the town‑attorney report.
During public comment, resident Butch Harper said he supported the settlement outcome and said a trial could have caused “irreparable” damage, a view met with acknowledgment from commissioners.
