Ryan Erickson (board administration) told the board the body has authority under Iowa Code chapter 468 to set the interest rate on drainage district warrants; the board approved maintaining a 5% interest rate for fiscal 2027. The board then adopted separate resolutions to levy and certify special assessments for multiple districts (Anthem Central, Bennett McDonald, Maple River, Orton Slough, Poverty Hollow, Smithland, Smoky Hollow, Weber Creek, Wolf Creek, and several Wolf Creek pump districts) with individual motions and votes. The Orton Slough assessment was listed at $100 and one Wolf Creek assessment was listed at $13,200; most items passed 4-0.
Officials said each district resolution must be done separately and staff will continue to manage the paperwork and certification to the county auditor for collection.
