Front‑entry enhancements: The town heard a presentation from Cindy Keim, president of the Garden Club, on a phased landscaping and monument sign plan. The Garden Club pledged about $20,000; the commission voted to proceed with the monument sign area and south entry drive with a town match not to exceed $40,000 total.
Insurance renewal: Town Manager Heidi said dental and vision premiums are unchanged and that health premium costs will increase by roughly $2,000 per month for the current staff complement; the commission voted to approve the one‑year renewal effective March 1.
North Walkway stairs: Because the originally selected contractor could not meet schedule/timing needs, the town entered an agreement with Denmark (Denmark Development) to construct stairs at North Long Point for about $38,000. The commission authorized the town manager to execute the agreement and proceed with construction.
Public comment and litigation: During public comment a resident (speaker 9) raised long‑running permit and public‑records concerns about a South Walkway fence and asked the commission to avoid a special‑master proceeding; earlier in the meeting the town attorney had also reported two insurance‑handled settlements (one for $15,000 and a Freeman settlement of $580,000) from prior years.
