John, presenting for Gahagan and Bryant Associates, told the commissioners the monitoring consists of annual topographic and hydrographic cross sections at fixed locations to assess beach performance and help refine future renourishment design. "The total for this year's monitoring event was be $67,388," he said, noting a slight increase over last year as the contractor can adjust pricing under its current contract.
The monitoring is permit-required as part of the town's beach renourishment project, the presenter said, and the data have historically informed changes in project design. The Chair called for a motion to authorize the town manager to sign the task order; John moved the motion and the Chair seconded. Commissioners approved the item by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
The action directs the town manager to sign the task order; the contract will fund a one-year monitoring event that includes field surveys, processing and a deliverable report required by the state permit. The commission did not record a roll-call tally in the meeting transcript.
