The Appearance Review Board voted to approve a conceptual 6-foot privacy fence at 320 South Tubb during its March 3 meeting.
Sarah Mastison, the town’s contracted planner, presented the proposal and told the board the parcel is about 1.25 acres in a Commercial C‑1 zone within the Urban Corridor Design District. "The applicant is proposing a 6 foot high privacy fence around the existing parking area located to the north of the property," Mastison said, noting the town code requires decorative fencing visible from the right-of-way, a three-foot hedge accompaniment, and limits on fence heights unless otherwise approved.
Applicant Gilbert Mohmadu introduced himself and described plans to improve the site’s appearance. "I purchased the property, and I am supposed to approve how it looks from today," Mohmadu said, and added he plans to reskin and repaint the metal building to make it "a lot nicer than it looks now." A board member said the taller fence would better mask commercial vehicles and urged attention to color and materials to maintain the corridor’s character.
A motion to accept the proposal passed after the board opened and closed the public hearing and took a voice vote. The ARB’s approval was conceptual and will inform permitting and final design reviews by staff when the applicant applies for permits.
