Commissioners publicly thanked the interim chief for holding the department through the search process. "Thank you for holding down the fort on the on an interim basis," a commissioner said, praising the interim leadership and staff contributions during the vacancy.
After appointing the chief, the commission considered compensation. A commissioner proposed a rounded starting salary recommendation of $140,000, which was seconded and approved without dissent. The commission noted the new charter assigns the commission responsibility for setting salary ranges.
The commission said it will finalize contract details and the swearing-in timeline, and commissioners invited the new chief to coordinate with staff to ensure an orderly transition. The commission adjourned following the personnel action.
