Orange Park and Recreation Commission: budget update, full camps and Fred Wolf site work noted

The Orange Park and Recreation Commission met Wednesday evening at Orange Town Hall and approved the May meeting minutes before hearing a directors report on summer operations.
Chair Jim O'Connor, who opened the meeting, said the July 22 session began at 7:30 p.m. and led a roll call of members. The commission agreed to approve the May minutes after a motion from Steve Vesputer and a second from Matt Schall; the chair called for the ayes and the motion carried.
The director delivered the department report, saying four sessions of the towns day camp have been full this summer and that only two weeks remain in the camp season. "Week 8 is definitely full," the director said, and staff reported teen travel weeks were nearly full as well. The director said grounds crews are focused on ball-field maintenance and setting up sites at Old Tavern Road and the fairgrounds for tournaments and events.
Commissioners and the chair thanked the Board of Finance and the town finance director for working with the department on the new fiscal-year budget, which the group said went into effect July 1 and "is replenished." The director offered to show commissioners the current budget figures after the meeting and noted packet pages include the detailed sheets.
Members were also told the town carnival is scheduled to begin next Thursday. The director noted an aquatics/programs report in the packet and the chair observed that an assisted lift at the pool has been installed, an accessibility improvement.
On the Fred Wolf site, Chair O'Connor said he had spoken with Jim (at the fireworks) and that the town is preparing an RFP for clearing and other phase-one work; the Fred Wolf committee has not formally met recently but is expected to convene in September to advance the project.
With no further business, a motion to adjourn carried on a second from Jack Pritchard and the meeting ended with members wishing each other a good July and August.
The commission did not take other formal actions at this meeting; several operational updates were provided and staff were directed to supply budget figures as requested.
