Moultonborough commission reviews funds, Lake Host activity and a launch theft

The Moultonborough Conservation Commission Milfoil Committee on July 13 reviewed finances, Lake Host activity, volunteer outreach and other housekeeping matters.
Karin Nelson reported the committee’s fund balance is about $195,000 and said the principal expense since the last meeting was a roughly $45,000 payment to NH Lakes for Lake Host personnel. The minutes describe those amounts as approximate; no supporting line-item detail was included in the meeting record.
On Lake Host operations, Tracy Waterman said a shade cabana was stolen from the Lake Kanatsaka launch in a break-in; the cabana’s value was reported as approximately $50. The incident was reported to the Moultonborough Police Department, and the minutes say the department will increase patrols in the area. Tracy also said launch activity at Lee’s Mills is significantly lower than prior years, while States Landing and Long Island have seen the most use this season.
Deb Daecetis said she has contacted previously trained Weed Watchers but has not seen much volunteer activity; significant growth areas have been hard to find this year.
Karin Nelson also noted that the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) is launching a new “one-stop” website to integrate permitting, compliance, inspections, enforcement and reporting and provided the committee with the site URL.
The committee set its next meeting for Sept. 1, 2026 at 9:30 a.m.; Mike Couture will confirm room availability and that a quorum will be present. The meeting adjourned at 11:09 a.m. after a motion by Tracy Waterman seconded by Mike Couture. Earlier in the meeting Tracy moved, and Amy Lindamood seconded, accepting the previous minutes; the minutes record both motions as approved but do not show vote counts.
