The Woodland Park Board of Education voted unanimously on June 8 to revise the 2026–27 school calendar, approve a four‑year collective bargaining agreement with the principals and supervisors association, and authorize several contracts and facility expenditures.
The Board approved a revision to the district calendar that sets Sept. 2, 2026, as the first day of classes for students and lists Sept. 4, 2026, as a district closure. The change was included in the consent agenda and passed by roll call vote (8–0).
The Board also approved the collective bargaining agreement between the Woodland Park Board of Education and the Woodland Park Principals & Supervisors Association covering July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2030. The resolution authorizes the Board president to execute the contract on behalf of the Board.
In personnel actions the Board approved transfers, hires and class changes to take effect in the 2026–27 school year. Among actions recorded in the minutes, Jessica Mastropaolo was moved from Beatrice Gilmore (BG) Principal to Memorial Principal; Erin Muttel was approved as a Pre‑K teacher effective Sept. 1, 2026; Adeeba Hamoud was approved as a per‑diem nurse for the ECC at $300 per day; and multiple staff class changes (e.g., step and degree adjustments) were approved. The minutes list a series of summer custodial hires, ratified paid administrative leave dates for specified employee IDs, and amendments to prior appointments for ESY staffing.
On facilities and contracts the Board authorized a withdrawal from the Maintenance Reserve Account not to exceed $88,720 to fund required maintenance projects including paging system upgrades at School 1 ($23,628), Beatrice Gilmore ($25,532) and Charles Olbon ($31,222), plus a wireless clock upgrade at Charles Olbon ($8,338). The resolution cites N.J.A.C. 6A:23A‑14.2 governing maintenance reserve use and passed by roll call (8–0).
The Board renewed a transportation contract with Scholastic Bus Services for four routes for 2026–27 at $328.32 per diem per route, listed in the minutes with a total cost of $236,390.40; that renewal was approved by roll call (8–0). The Board also ratified a contract with LearnWell to provide home instruction for a specified student at $63 per hour, effective June 1, 2026, until further notice.
The Board authorized Coppa Montalbano Architects to submit an amendment to the District’s Long Range Facility Plan to meet New Jersey Department of Education reporting requirements; that resolution passed by roll call (8–0).
The minutes record two executive sessions during the meeting to discuss personnel, litigation/contract matters and multiple HIB (Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying) investigations. After Executive Session II the Board moved to affirm an HIB finding (#2026‑28) and denied the parent’s appeal (resolution 226‑25A). The motion to affirm was made by David Amanullah and seconded by Mark Salemi; the minutes indicate the Board did not accept the appeal.
Most listed actions, including consent, personnel and finance items, were approved by recorded roll call votes in the minutes. The Board adjourned at 8:32 p.m.
The Board previewed items for the June 22, 2026 regular meeting.
