Councilmember Dana Merrill reported outreach to four accounting professionals; three responded with proposals estimating between $250 and $300 per month (roughly $100 more than the previous firm). The responding firms raised concerns that prevented them from accepting the engagement at this time: they require restricted access to the Village’s financial systems (limited to the accounting firm, the village attorney and the village clerk) and identified unresolved historical accounting issues that must be clarified before accepting the work.
Council did not select a new firm at the meeting. Staff said further details and recommendations will be presented after the evaluations and firm clarifications are complete.
