Committee members asked about more direct volunteer interaction in future events, and Roman said organizers will explore places for committee members to be more hands-on next year. The committee also discussed the idea of a 'friends of' nonprofit for the course to support scholarships and capital projects; Roman said such a group would have to be independent (a freestanding 501(c)(3)) and could raise funds but could not be run by staff or committee members directly.
