Floyd County supervisors approve bridge right-of-way purchases, set 45 mph limit on Rotary Park Road and OK temporary closure for bridge work

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors on July 14 approved several transportation actions and received a report from County Engineer Adam Miller on flood impacts and project schedules.
The board approved right-of-way contracts for the Underwood Avenue Bridge Project (Projects 114 and 117), including payments of $7,871.27 to Nilewood Partnership, LLLP; $2,031.52 to the Duane Jaeger Grantor Trust; and $3,548.06 to Admore Acres, LLC. The motions were moved and seconded by supervisors and carried 3-0.
The board adopted Resolution No. 29-26 setting a 45 mph speed limit on Rotary Park Road from T64 to a point 1,700 feet west of Redwood Avenue and authorized installation of signage. The resolution was adopted by roll-call vote with Supervisors Gloria A. Carr, Frank Rottinghaus and Boyd Campbell voting aye.
The board also adopted Resolution No. 30-26 authorizing a temporary closure of 170th Street between Glass Avenue (T26) and Hickory Avenue for the BROS-C034(109)--8J-34 bridge replacement project and directed placement of appropriate road closure signage; the roadway will reopen when the County Engineer determines the project is complete. The motion carried 3-0.
County Engineer Adam Miller reported that shouldering work on B60 was paused because of recent flooding and is expected to resume the following week, and that a culvert on 140th Street between Indigo and Jersey Avenues has washed out and remained closed while other flood-related road closures had reopened. He told the board that check plans for the HDP(117) 155th Street Bridge had been submitted for a November letting, bridge replacement work continued on 170th Street south of Rudd, and the Packard Avenue (T47) resurfacing project is scheduled for late August or early September. Miller also said that required speed limit signage under the new legislation has been installed countywide and that surplus pickups would be offered for auction after Decatur County declined to purchase them.
All board votes recorded in the minutes on these items were unanimous (3-0).
