Wabasha County commissioners approve liquor licenses, sheriff’s investigative agreement and routine consent items

The Wabasha County Board of Commissioners on July 7 approved a slate of routine items and contracts, including liquor license actions, a small vendor payment, a highway equipment purchase authorization and an investigative subscription for the sheriff’s office.
The board unanimously accepted an anonymous $1,000 donation to be used toward National Night Out for the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office. Commissioner Walkes moved to approve the consent agenda; Commissioner Key seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
Under the consent actions the board approved renewals and new county liquor licenses for multiple applicants for the 2026–27 licensing year, subject to approval by the State of Minnesota Liquor Control Commissioner and receipt of required insurance certificates and fees. The board also approved a Minnesota Lawful Gambling LG214 application for the Plainview Firemen's Relief Association to conduct off-site gambling at the Hitching Post Grill & Bar, subject to state approval.
The board authorized final payment of $427.48 to Fitzgerald Excavating & Trucking Inc. for Project CP 079-002-002 and authorized the Highway Department to purchase a used John Deere tractor with flail mowers from Minnesota Surplus Services for the winning bid amount.
The board authorized the Sheriff or Chief Deputy to sign a three-year agency agreement with LeadsOnline LLC to provide investigative resources at an initial cost of $3,359.20 per year, with future increases capped at 3% annually. The resolution specifies the yearly cost will be paid from the Sheriff’s services agreement budget line (01-201-6340).
All consent and routine resolutions recorded in the minutes (including Resolutions 2026-125 through 2026-131 and related items) were adopted unanimously. The board recessed to a budget workshop and to the Wabasha County Fair scheduled for July 15–18.
