Board approves water and sewer ordinance changes; PSC review required before rates change

Rob Neely, who presented the matter, said the proposal was unchanged from the packet provided at the previous meeting and that no customers currently are on a flat-rate water plan. When the board called for public comment none was offered. "The next step will be to take it to the PSC," Neely said; he added that no rate changes will take effect until the PSC completes its review and authorizes any changes for customers outside specified service areas.
Why it matters: Changes to rate ordinances set the framework for future customer billing and formalize the city's approach to water and sewer charges. Board members voted to move the ordinance forward after a second reading and public hearing.
