Commissioners approve claims, contracts and EMS reports; grants could fund new MIH program

The commissioners approved routine procurement and claims and took several operational votes during the meeting. Clerk S4 presented vendor claims totaling $1,540,740.67 and payroll claims of $360,725.96; motions to approve those claims were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.

Contract approvals included a lawn-and-tree package for $5,000 (complete removal with stump grinding and debris haul) and a facilities HVAC/AC repair/installation package based on quotes presented by Highway representative S13; the board moved, seconded and approved those contracts. Commissioners also approved a request allowing an employee (S14) to use a county office for storage through the end of the year and approved giving a key to the new deputy administrator ("Cassandra Speicher"), as requested by the planning representative (S11).

EMS operations (S12) reported four of five ambulances currently running, one permanently out of service for rust issues, recent advanced-trauma training, and ongoing staffing vacancies for EMT and paramedic positions. S12 said a potential MIH (mobile-integrated health) grant request for $248,000 could fund a two-year pilot (with the possibility of up to five years of funding) to build and sustain a new program; S12 also referenced a rural-health transformation grant program that will disperse approximately $1,100,000 over five years for program salaries.

Where recorded, voice votes on contracts were unanimous in favor among commissioners present; no counted roll-call tallies were transcribed for every vote. Next steps: staff will follow up on contract timelines, pursue statutory notification steps for fee changes where applicable, and return with cost estimates and implementation plans for grant applications and EMS program proposals.
