The Board of Supervisors on July 21 approved two Williamson Act contract actions to adjust agricultural preserve boundaries.
Planning staff described the Jones Agricultural Preserve action as a partial rollout that would remove a roughly 13-acre parcel from preserve No. 77 while leaving the 41.5-acre remainder in place; the 10-year rollback process brings taxes back to full valuation over time. The agricultural commission had reviewed the project and recommended approval. The board approved the contract and adopted the associated resolution.
In a second item the board approved a contract that separates a parcel from agricultural preserve No. 72 and incorporates it into a new preserve (Coyle), keeping the same total acreage in preserved status but creating two preserves instead of one. Staff said both projects are categorically exempt from CEQA under section 15317. Both motions passed on voice votes recorded by the chair.
