Albany County approves airport grant, public-safety contracts, mosquito-control funding and new IT hire

The Albany County Board of County Commissioners approved several grant agreements, contracts and personnel actions on June 16, including a Federal Aviation Administration FY2026 AIP grant, two Wyoming Office of Homeland Security grants, a detention opioid diversion equipment contract and a mosquito-control grant.
Key approvals included the FAA AIP Grant Agreement (Project No. 3-56-0014-053-2026) for Reconstruct Apron (Phase I Design) in the amount of $628,472.00 and a temporary renewal of the county's Cigna health insurance coverage through December 2026. The Board also approved a Detention Opioid Diversion contract for a medical scanner ($38,730) and two Wyoming Office of Homeland Security grant awards: $61,253 to outfit a truck for the Emergency Management Coordinator and $34,298 to support purchase of radios.
During the regular meeting the Board approved a 2026 Emergency Insect Management Program grant agreement with the Wyoming Department of Agriculture for $87,000 to support cooperative mosquito-control efforts in Albany County. The Board also approved hiring an Information Technology — System Administrator position specialized to the Sheriff's Office and set a special meeting for June 30, 2026 to approve the county budget.
