Albany County commissioners approve plats, appointments and $880,664 in vouchers; FAA grant tabled

Albany County commissioners conducted a packed June 2 meeting in Laramie, approving land‑use matters, appointments, a proclamation and a large voucher list while tabling an FAA airport grant.
Among the land‑use votes, the board approved The Paddocks at Fort Sanders — Second Filing, Third Addition final plat (SD‑06‑25) conditioned on amending and recording existing covenants to include the new lots; the motion was made by Commissioner Gosar and passed unanimously. The Calistoga Subdivision (SD‑01‑26) was approved with staff findings adopted, and the Binning Zoning District Amendment (ZDA‑02‑26) was approved with staff analysis concluding consistency with the comprehensive plan. The Point North Final Plat (SD‑08‑25) was tabled by motion of Commissioner Hoff.
The board approved a letter of support for the Pioneer Canal‑Lake Hattie Irrigation District's FEMA BRIC grant application and adopted Resolution 2026‑013 declaring the results of the May 5 special election on the one‑percent specific‑purpose sales and use excise tax. The board also set election judge wages under W.S. §22‑8‑116.
Appointments approved included Gwendolyn Kristy to the Historic Preservation Board for a three‑year term ending April 2029 and Cameron Chimenti to the Albany County Tourism Board for a two‑year term to June 2028. The board accepted final completion of the Detention Center Generator Project, noted the final contract cost of $358,307.00 and directed advertising for final payment with a remaining balance of $17,915.35. The Federal Aviation Administration FY 2026 Airport Improvement Program grant agreement for apron reconstruction (Project No. 3‑56‑0014‑053‑2026), in the amount of $628,472, was tabled to the June 16 meeting on a motion by Commissioner Hoff.
Financial approvals included a voucher list totaling $880,663.69. Notable items on the voucher list were Arcon, Inc. ($256,409.00 for Pilot Hill Trailhead), Frontier Upfitting ($107,057.69), CorrHealth LLC ($70,007.78 for nursing services), First Interstate Bank ($56,308.69), Motorola Solutions ($30,360.96) and numerous smaller line items; Commissioner Hoff moved to approve the vouchers and the motion carried unanimously.
The board proclaimed June 15–21, 2026 as Men’s Health Week in Albany County and adjourned at 10:55 a.m.; a 1:00 p.m. work session to discuss the county budget was scheduled for later that day.
