Tecumseh approves CDBG downtown façade program guidelines and authorizes grant application

The Tecumseh City Council on Sept. 2 held a public hearing on a Community Development Block Grant application to address commercial façade rehabilitation and moved to adopt program guidelines for Downtown Revitalization.
Brittany McCullough with SENDD reiterated the terms of the CDBG application described in the hearing notice; the public hearing opened at 5:02 p.m. and closed at 5:04 p.m. After the hearing, Councilmember Tyler Speckmann moved to adopt the CDBG Downtown Revitalization program guidelines and the motion carried unanimously among members present.
Council then approved a resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign the city’s application for CDBG Downtown Revitalization funds targeted at commercial façade rehabilitation. The Council also appointed the city’s Economic Development Board to serve as the CDBG DTR committee to review and oversee program activities.
All related votes were recorded as Aye: Beethe, Britt, Goracke, Speckmann and Topp; Absent: Brommer. The minutes do not include proposed grant dollar amounts or detailed eligibility criteria beyond what was summarized at the public hearing; staff and the appointed committee will implement the program rules and proceed with the application filing with the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
