Tecumseh staff report progress on housing talks, water tower painting and park repairs

City staff briefed the Tecumseh City Council on a range of operational and project updates at the Nov. 3 meeting, including audit scheduling, street work, economic development talks, utility projects and park repairs.

City Clerk reported the city is working through the fiscal year-end 2025 audit and that auditors will return in December. Streets staff advised the council a decision on Arrowhead Drive is in hand, crews are patching holes around town, and the department needs to begin ordering rock for DTR; a new DTR contract was described as forthcoming. These items were presented by Doug Goracke during the regular agenda.

On economic development, staff said work continues on Niocorp-related matters and that officials are researching housing funding and are in talks with Aspen Builders about a housing addition; the CDBG DTR award results remain pending. Utility department reporting noted the EDA project is largely complete with only programming by Olsson remaining; removal of materials from the old pool house and a planned teardown were noted. Staff reported the North water tower painting is done but the city is waiting for proper cure and sample results before refilling; OPPD testing was completed and a large-user sewer rate adjustment has been implemented.

Parks staff reported that a pickleball net repair was completed and the city is seeking bids for new fencing around the courts and for repairs to the park bridge across the creek.
