Leoni Interceptor flow meter failure and $3.5M LDSI request denied, Napoleon officials say

Supervisor Dan Wymer told the board July 14 that the Leoni Interceptor flow meter, which monitors sewer flow for Grass Lake and Napoleon Township, is not working and the vendor is working to correct the problem.
Wymer also reported that a Legislatively Directed Spending Item (LDSI) request for $3.5 million to purchase 29 additional flow meters across Jackson County was not approved in the recent state budget. Township officials described that denial as a setback for planned countywide upgrades to flow monitoring.
Separate work during M‑50 road construction had raised a suspected water main leak; Lester Brothers, Inc. investigated and determined no leak existed. Wymer said the township will continue to pursue equipment repairs and look for alternate funding opportunities, but no new countywide funding was awarded in the current state budget cycle.
