District welcomes new director of student services, shares back-to-school schedule

Dr. Keeser formally welcomed Jenny Borst as the Stoughton Area School District’s new director of student services and asked trustees who had not yet met her to connect after the meeting. "So, wanted to formal welcome Jenny Borst, our new director of student services," he said, and noted she is expected to start July 1 and will work with the climate and culture work group and contribute to the district’s belonging dashboard updates.
Dr. Keeser provided calendar items for board members and staff: new-educator orientation is scheduled for Aug. 19–21, with an ice-cream social at the end of training; staff return and all-staff welcome activities begin the week of Aug. 24 with a noon board invitation for anyone who can attend. He said registration dates for K–5 and secondary students will be communicated to buildings as the start of the school year approaches.
Trustees welcomed the new hire and were invited to participate in orientation and welcome events. The board also discussed outreach materials and requested staff (including Abby and outreach work-group members) review how nomination and publicity language is presented so it accurately reflects community contributions.
The board recorded action items asking staff to follow up with LevelUp Fitness to clarify nomination details and for outreach to revise the business honor-roll nomination form to capture quantifiable contribution information. The governance work group will meet Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. (virtual) and the board’s next regular meetings are Aug. 3 and Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in person.
