Council adopts ordinance restricting through truck traffic on city streets

Fulshear’s City Council on Feb. 17 adopted an updated ordinance that designates through truck routes — including state routes and Texas Heritage Parkway — and limits through truck traffic on local city streets while allowing deliveries to properties inside the city.
Staff said the prior rule was outdated and inconsistent with how the city signs truck routes; the update modernizes the code, clarifies enforcement and will be accompanied by revised signage. Council members noted neighborhood complaints about trucks cutting through residential streets such as Boatark Lane and Polo Ranch Boulevard. The ordinance allows officers to request a driver provide a destination; if the destination is outside city limits and the vehicle is on a local street, the driver may be cited for violating the through‑truck prohibition.
A motion to approve Ordinance No. 2026-1521 passed after council discussion. Staff said the city will identify alternate routes for truck dispatchers and update signage to help ensure compliance; if parking issues arise in specific segments, staff noted the city can address them through separate parking ordinances.
