Sergeant Chip Cummings explained the communications agreement allows town radios to operate on a simulcast channel with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office during incidents, and said the current equipment is compatible so the arrangement will not require additional town funds. "It won't cost the town any money," Cummings said.
On debris removal, staff noted the town has relied on the Solid Waste Authority under a mutual‑aid contract; the town reauthorized the same terms after the prior agreement recently expired. The council approved both measures by voice vote; the interlocal agreement was recorded as passing 4–0 and the debris extension passed 4–0.
The measures aim to ensure interoperable communications and continuity of debris removal after storms, with staff noting coordination will run through county operations and third‑party contractors for rights‑of‑way cleanup.
