The mayor recounted Gonzalez’s local ties — attendance at Hebron High School, community involvement and family — and said the U.S. military will conduct reception and honors in line with military casualty protocols. “She was a determined young lady, respected by her classmates and adored by her siblings and family,” the mayor said. The city announced plans for local support for the family and long‑term remembrance, including a permanent tribute at the Carrollton Memorial, a tree‑planting program in coordination with Hebron High School, and local vigil arrangements to follow military timing.
Mayor Pro Tem Daisy Palomo, speaking as a mother of a deployed service member, offered condolences and framed the community’s gratitude for Gonzalez’s service. Veterans present — including John Norrisworthy, commander of American Legion Post 597 — pledged ongoing local support for the family and community grieving process.
The council also said Carrollton Police and Public Safety will coordinate with the military to provide local support to the family and to complement military honors when permitted by federal protocol. The council closed the tribute portion by affirming the city will share details about the vigil and funeral as they are finalized with the family.
The city scheduled additional local memorial steps, including coordination with veterans’ groups and the American Legion for bereavement support for the family and a permanent city memorial at Carrollton Memorial.
