Residents tell code board they are being singled out by neighbor's complaints

Two residents identifying themselves as Natalie Warren and Raven Lisonbee told the Lake Clarke Shores Code Enforcement Board they have received repeated complaints from a neighbor and disputed assertions that their yard constitutes garbage.
"I do the best I can when I can 'cause I'm disabled ... I have pictures on my phone that show you that I'm taking care of my property," said Natalie Warren, who testified the only citation she recalls was for a temporary tented structure placed over a boat and that she and her household have cleaned the property.
Code Enforcement Officer Eric Ritwagen responded that the complaint about the tented structure came from the neighbor at 8350 Waterway Drive and confirmed that 8350 remains an active case being fined daily for a separate fence violation. Eric said staff investigates complaints filed with the building department and that the board could not fairly adjudicate evidence at that moment if the matter belonged before a hearing where the other property owner had notice.
The board advised residents that, absent a town finding of a violation, neighbor disputes remain private and suggested contacting the town or appearing at the scheduled hearing for matters that are on the agenda. Residents were allowed to present their concerns; staff noted any active cases will proceed under normal hearing protocols.
