Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation reports growth in school mental-health services, expands senior meals program

Tammy Verhus, interim executive director of the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation, briefed the Eden Plus City Council on July 13 about recent program growth in school mental-health services and senior hot meals.
Verhus said the foundation served a total of 82 students in the current reporting period, including 62 at Enumclaw High School, 9 at Enumclaw Middle School and 11 at Thunder Mountain; she said six of the Enumclaw High students ‘‘graduated’’ from therapy. The foundation reported an improvement in its behavioral-intervention metric that Verhus characterized as a 32% improvement between reporting periods.
On senior services, Verhus said the foundation currently serves about 66 seniors and has delivered roughly 80-plus meals year to date (the presentation detailed three deliveries per week, six meals per senior weekly, and about 400 meals prepared from scratch each week). She said approximately 87 volunteers support meal prep, shopping and delivery. Verhus thanked the city for its support and invited council and residents to contact the foundation with questions.
