Council hires consultant for town strategic plan; approves $18,635 from contingency

The Juno Beach Town Council voted unanimously to retain a consultant to prepare a town strategic plan, approving a contract in the range of $18,635 (including a public workshop option) funded from contingency.
Consultant Jim Harris said the process typically takes about six months and includes discovery interviews, public engagement and a product designed for both staff use and public communication: "You write the plan. You own the plan," he told the council. Several council members supported a public workshop component and asked that the plan include measurable strategic initiatives and staff key performance indicators.
Council members asked for one-on-one interviews with the consultant and suggested scheduling public engagement in October, after residents return for the fall season. The council directed staff to proceed and the motion to fund the consultant passed on roll call.
