Several residents in public comment urged replacement with stamped concrete to avoid repeated annual repairs; others supported preserving the bricks for aesthetic reasons.
Councilmember Diana (motion maker) moved to proceed with repairs on Donald Ross Road using the identified funds and to authorize $2,500 from contingency for RMPK to support a Veil Go grant application; the motion also directed staff to explore whether a concrete border would improve durability. After discussion staff agreed to evaluate the cost differential for curbing and to pursue a $200,000 TrailGo grant application for future corridor work. The roll call showed Mayor Wheeler and two other members in favor and two opposed; the motion passed 3'2.
Staff said the grant application must be filed by the end of August and any awarded money must be expended by June 2025. The town will proceed with the immediate repairs, pursue the grant and report back to council on curbing/cost estimates.
