Committee recommends Senior Programs purchase a new meal-delivery van using millage funds

Senior Programs Director Andrea Pomerantz told the Properties Committee that one of the program's delivery vans, a 2013 model, was recently in an accident and needs repairs that exceed the vehicle's value. She said other vehicles in the fleet are near or over 100,000 miles and described steps to improve fleet maintenance, including a regular maintenance schedule and vehicle rotation to increase accountability.
Pomerantz asked to use senior millage funds to purchase a replacement now because the capital budget does not provide for a new vehicle until 2027. She presented options comparing used and new Chrysler Pacifica models and noted warranties and total cost differences were a key part of the discussion. Building & Grounds/Parks Director JT Anderson was involved in the maintenance and procurement discussion.
Commissioner Ian Kempf moved, and Commissioner Kevin Knisely supported, a recommendation to the Full Board to authorize the Senior Programs Director and Building & Grounds/Parks Director to proceed with Jim Riehl Friendly Chrysler for a new front-wheel Pacifica Select at a cost of $41,982, to be paid from Senior Millage line 223601-980.000 and subject to a budget amendment. The motion carried.
