Lapeer County schedules March public hearing for 5-year multi-municipal parks plan

The Lapeer County Properties Committee voted Jan. 22 to establish a public hearing March 12, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. to accept public comment on a draft 5-Year Multi-Municipal Parks Plan that must be submitted to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
Support Services Office Manager Jillian Clark said the draft was updated by working from the previous plan and coordinating with townships and Michigan DNR requirements. Chairman Bryan Zender requested that all townships receive copies for review. Commissioner Ian Kempf asked that, after the public hearing, the plan be moved to the Full Board for final approval rather than being finalized at the hearing.
The committee authorized Buildings & Grounds to publish the required public hearing notice, post the draft plan on the county website and make printed copies available at viewing locations as required by Michigan DNR rules.
