The Walworth Town Board on June 18 formally accepted Councilwoman Amber Linson’s resignation, effective June 30, 2026, and announced plans to interview candidates for the remainder of her 2026 term at a special meeting on July 7.
Supervisor Laura Elsbree called the Regular Town Board meeting to order and read the resolution accepting Linson’s resignation. The resolution thanked Linson for her service and passed on a roll call vote with all board members recorded as voting in favor.
Elsbree also said she intends to appoint Councilman Craig Jeffers as Deputy Supervisor effective July 1, 2026. The board later moved and passed a separate resolution removing Linson’s check-signing authority and authorizing Deputy Supervisor Jeffers to sign checks and facsimile signatures effective July 1.
During public comment, resident Mike Donalty praised Linson’s ‘‘dedication and selflessness,’’ citing her roles on the town board and as president of the historical society and noting her work on the town’s transition to the Wayne County Water and Sewer Authority. Resident Joseph Janto used the public-comment period to ask how residents can submit suggestions for an update to the town’s comprehensive plan.
The board announced a Special Meeting for July 7 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to conduct walk-in interviews of candidates to fill the vacancy; the board said it will go into executive session to interview each candidate and later vote. No appointment was made at the June 18 meeting.
