High‑school students brief PAC on leadership program, fundraising dances and a participation app

Sarah Craven, one of the leadership teachers, described two leadership offerings: an introductory freshmen class (about 50 students) and an advanced leadership program with roughly 60 students in grades 10–12; she explained GPA thresholds for elected positions and the program’s role in supporting student activities across athletics, theater and clubs.
Senior Cadence Groves said the program’s dances create a safe place for students to socialize and are the leadership program’s largest fundraiser: "Leadership makes all of their money from dances," she told the PAC, adding that revenue funds prizes and activities including a new mascot.
Sophomore class vice president Nate Woodman described FiveStar, a phone app the school uses for check‑in at events, which awards points that students can redeem for prizes. He credited the app with increasing turnout and outlined redemption examples and point values. Students also described Sparrow Club fundraising tied to community events and said leadership students collectively perform substantial community service (students and staff estimated more than 2,500 hours per year across activities).
Teachers said they are organizing a district leadership conference for grades 4–12 and are exploring college‑credit alignment for the advanced leadership curriculum with local colleges.
