Committee to form subgroup to update charter and expand new-member onboarding

Don Everyham, the Northwest Oregon Area Director, walked the committee through a newly assembled onboarding packet and proposed steps to update the committee charter. He said the packet includes a brief Oregon State Forest fact sheet, planning-level explanations, links to the committee website and the charter, and suggested training options tied to the agency’s Workday system.
Everyham described a proposed subgroup to edit the charter and bring a revised draft back to the full committee for October review. "We will form a small subgroup of SVAC to work to update that charter," he said, listing Cheryl, Amanda and Dan as initial members of that subgroup. Staff expect to schedule subgroup meetings after the Board of Forestry meeting and aim to provide a tracked-changes draft for the October committee meeting.
Committee members asked whether training requirements apply to advisory (non-decision-making) bodies; staff said they adapted the packet from other regional committee templates and will confirm any legal training requirements and follow up with members.
Next steps: staff will accept member input via a single point of contact, convene the subgroup after Board action in July, and present a revised charter and onboarding approach for committee review in October.
