Riverton board renews Opaa! food-service contract and raises student meal prices for 2026-27

The Unified School District No. 404 Board of Education on May 14 approved renewal of the Opaa! fixed-price food service management addendum for the 2026-27 school year and also approved an increase in student and adult meal prices.
Superintendent Kevin Cooper told the board the district needed to raise breakfast and lunch prices for 2026-27. The board voted to approve the 2026-27 Opaa Addendum (motion by Jeff Coleman, seconded by Matt Darnaby), then approved the following meal prices for 2026-27: breakfast PreK–12 $2.70 and adult $3.25; lunch PreK–5 $3.70, grades 6–8 $3.70, grades 9–12 $3.80, adult/guest $5.30. Judy Adams moved the meal-price motion and Matt Darnaby seconded; both motions carried unanimously.
District administrators said the Greenbush Trust committee is still finalizing insurance rates for 2026-27; board discussion on food-service pricing was presented alongside other routine superintendent updates. The board did not amend the contract terms in open session.
The price changes will take effect for the 2026-27 school year; families eligible for free or reduced-price meals were not separately discussed during the board’s public meeting notes.
