Lauderdale Lakes staff presents five-year BSO contracts for police and fire services

Sharon Haynes, the city's director of financial services, told the commission that resolution 2025-157 would renew law-enforcement services for a five-year term (10/01/2025— 09/30/2030) to cover 50 BSO personnel. Haynes presented the contract's first-year cost as $11,478,467 (the backup also included a presentation line of $956,538.92 tied to the first contract-year accounting), and said the contract is funded from the general fund.
Haynes then presented resolution 2025-158, a separate five-year contract for the Broward Sheriff's Office to provide fire prevention and emergency rescue services to Lauderdale Lakes. That contract was presented with a first-year cost of $12,385,314 for 48 assigned personnel, also funded through the general fund and expiring 09/30/2030.
Both items were presented for commission consideration; staff made the financial backups available and invited questions. Commissioners did not raise substantive policy objections during the workshop discussion; staff indicated the items would be carried forward for formal action at a subsequent meeting.
Haynes emphasized funding and staffing numbers and said staff would be available to answer further questions before the commission votes. The commission did not take a final vote during the workshop and did not amend the terms on the record.
