No bids for Bedford County broadband towers; consultant recommends re-advertising grant-funded project

Commissioner Deb Baughman reported on July 8 that no bids were received in the opening for the Bedford County Broadband Infrastructure Towers funded through an ARC grant. She introduced Marty Malone of ATCS, Inc., who recommended the county review the grant documents and re-advertise the solicitation.
Malone told the board that, given the lack of bids, the recommended next step is to re-advertise the project and reassess procurement timing and scope to encourage contractor response. The commissioners recorded the recommendation; no formal vote beyond the announcement was required.
The meeting adjourned at 10:16 a.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 12, 2025.
