The Tonopah Town Board approved the Town’s renewal with the Nevada Public Agency Insurance Pool for the 2026–27 policy year and authorized payment from fiscal 2026–27 funds at its June 24 meeting. The board accepted the renewal by a 4-0 vote after a presentation by Kayla Frost and Marshall Smith from the Pool. The total program cost, including agent compensation, was listed as $62,152.22, a 3.5% increase from the prior year; the renewal shows a $5,000 maintenance deductible.
The renewals and board actions were part of a short business meeting in which the board also adopted three resolutions supporting local organizations and approved an hourly technology services agreement. Member Steven Stringer moved to accept the insurance renewal for the Town; Member Douglas Baker seconded and the motion carried 4-0. The Tonopah Library District Board of Trustees separately accepted its renewal with the same insurance pool by a 4-0 vote during a brief session immediately following the Town Board meeting.
In unanimous votes the Town Board adopted Resolution 2026-04 supporting the Tonopah Main Street Program, Resolution 2026-05 supporting the Central Nevada Historical Society (the transcript includes a correction to that organization’s name during discussion), and Resolution 2026-06 supporting the Tonopah Senior Nutrition program. Member Stringer moved to adopt Resolution 2026-04 and Member Baker seconded; similar 4-0 votes followed for Resolutions 2026-05 and 2026-06 after the board clarified the proper program names.
The board approved entering into an hourly technology services agreement with Oasis Online Consultant effective July 1, 2026. Member Baker moved to approve the contract and Member Stringer seconded; the motion carried 4-0.
On the consent agenda the board approved invoices, department budget reports and a 5/8 room tax grant of $800 to 4 R Kidz to promote the town’s Fourth of July celebration. The board also approved writing off $8,846.82 in outstanding accounts receivable for Tonopah Public Utilities after staff said the receivables exceeded the statute of limitations and collection attempts had been exhausted. Motions on those consent items carried 4-0.
Items that did not move forward included a proposed updated pay scale and loaded rates for the Town and Tonopah Public Utilities; the pay scale motion died for lack of a second, and the loaded-rates item also failed to advance. Two funding and services agreements—one with Tonopah Main Street and one with the Central Nevada Historical Society—were tabled after discussion (see separate coverage of Main Street’s statement to the board). The board adjourned the Town meeting at 7:22 p.m.; the Library District adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
The board recorded attendance as Chairman Don Kaminski (via phone), Vice-Chair Joni Eastley, Members Douglas Baker and Steven Stringer; Clerk Marc Grigory was absent. Records later show the boards approved invoices totaling $40,653.49 (approved July 22, 2026).
