Longswamp parks board approves Swamp Fest post-event sales, reimbursements and communication review

The Longswamp Township Parks and Recreation Board on June 16 approved several post-event items tied to Swamp Fest and reviewed communications practices after a member complained about office-handled emails.
Chair Tyrene Christman opened the meeting at 8:05 p.m. and the board unanimously approved the May 19 minutes. The board then addressed multiple Swamp Fest follow-ups. Member Jeremy Rehrig rescinded an earlier motion from May 19 that had approved America250 T-shirts for up to $200, and then moved to post-approve T-shirts to sell as merchandise at Swamp Fest with a revised cap of $500; Kristina DiGiampaolo seconded and the motion passed. The board also approved reimbursing Mike Sacks for wooden nickels sold at the event and post-approved the purchase of ice used during the festival.
Board of Supervisors liaison Mike Sacks used his report to apologize—while noting his disagreement—for an email the board had received from Supervisor Don Hickman concerning internal board emails about Swamp Fest. The board reviewed communications protocols and agreed members will follow bylaws going forward. Vice Chair Leann Sacks later told the board she was frustrated with how office personnel handled email communications; the minutes record the complaint but do not show a detailed corrective response beyond the earlier apology and the decision to follow bylaws.
Director Allison Fuller thanked volunteers and announced an electronic-recycling event for July 18 at the township building. Board members proposed planning improvements for next year’s Swamp Fest, including a Boy Scouts soda-can collection bin, replacing mushball with a corn-hole tournament, staggered vendor set-up times, expanded ad space in the event booklet, earlier vendor and entertainment booking, sending thank-you notes to volunteers and crafters, and using handicap barricades to better mark accessible parking.
The board recorded these motions as passed and closed the discussion. The meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
