Buckeye Lake council adopts village cybersecurity program, mayor to designate responsible person

Councilor Douglas Keener moved on June 22 to suspend the rules and advance Resolution 2026-12, which adopts the Village of Buckeye Lake Cybersecurity Program, authorizes the mayor to designate a person responsible for the program, and declares an emergency. The suspension of rules passed on a 5-1 vote (Nay: Councilor John Lemmon), and the resolution was then adopted unanimously 6-0.
Councilors characterized the measure as an administrative step to assign responsibility and formalize cybersecurity practices for village systems. The resolution was moved by Councilor Keener and adoption followed a motion by Councilor Keener seconded by Councilor Julian.
Implementation will require the mayor to name the responsible person and for that designee to coordinate cyber-practice implementation with staff. No amendments were proposed during the meeting.
