Emery County signs opioid-settlement participation forms and approves resolution to file cross-appeals on centrally assessed properties

The Emery County Commission on Sept. 16 approved multiple legal-authority actions related to national opioid settlements and property-assessment litigation.
Attorney Mike Olsen requested that the county sign the participation form for the New National Opioid Purdue Direct Settlement (CL-1737454) and a combined participation form for the New National Opioids Secondary Manufacturers Settlements (CL-1769253), each including a release of claims. The commission approved both requests.
Olsen also requested approval for the county to sign the Nationwide Opioid Litigation authorization to vote via master ballot regarding the Purdue/Sackler bankruptcy; the commission approved that authorization.
Finally, the commission approved Resolution 9-16-25 authorizing the filing of cross-appeals for the 2025 centrally assessed properties for Urban Oil & Gas Group, a county action requested by the county attorney.
