Three Oaks parks board re-nominates Ira Johnson, keeps Larry Shawver as secretary; council rep to be named

At its Dec. 2 meeting the Village of Three Oaks Parks and Recreation Board re-nominated Ira Johnson as chair and nominated Larry Shawver to continue as secretary. Village President Steve Graziano said he will nominate Council member Mike Springer as the council’s representative to the board.
The Village of Three Oaks Parks and Recreation Board re-nominated Ira Johnson to continue as chair and selected Larry Shawver to continue as secretary at its Dec. 2 meeting.
Joan Brown moved to nominate Ira Johnson as board chair; the motion was supported by Brian Overley and approved. Later, Brian Overley made a motion to nominate Larry Shawver to continue as board secretary; that motion also carried.
President Steve Graziano told the board that Brown had expressed a desire to be reappointed and that he plans to nominate Council member Mike Springer to serve as the Village Council’s representative to the Parks and Recreation Board.
The nominations came during the board’s routine opening business, including approval of the agenda and the Nov. 4 minutes. The actions are procedural but shape leadership and who will represent the council when the board forwards recommendations.
Village Manager Dan Faulkner handled administrative items and will provide year-to-date expense figures and guidance for the 2025 budget at the board’s next meeting.
The board adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
