The staff member described the calendar as tentative and noted two immediate challenges: the audit for 2025 has not been completed, and several state and county dates relevant to revenues have not been set. "Our 1st challenge right now is we don't have a completed audit yet. So it's hard to get into the '27 numbers without having definitive numbers from 2025," the staff member said. The presenter said the county will provide preliminary evaluation data that will inform decisions and that, "By July 13, city council meeting, we have a revenue rate decision."
Council members and staff also discussed how capital and other funds might fit into the calendar and flagged the need to confirm where certain public-works lines exist before committing to projects. Staff said it will begin a more detailed look at the general fund and continue to refine priorities and timelines. Council did not adopt final budget figures during the meeting; staff recommended returning with more complete data once the audit and county inputs are available.
