Walkerville Board approves fall football co-op with Hesperia, names rep to West Shore ESD budget

The Walkerville Public Schools Board of Education on March 23, 2026 approved a fall football cooperative with Hesperia and designated Vice President Janaya Hood as the district’s representative to the West Shore Educational Service District general fund operating budget. The meeting opened at 7:00 p.m. in Room 13 and adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
The board approved its consent agenda by motion of Trustee Albert Tanner, supported by Trustee Mark Riggs. The consent agenda included adoption of the meeting agenda, approval of the Feb. 16, 2026 regular meeting minutes and payment of bills; the motion passed, 7 ayes, 0 nays.
Under superintendent items the minutes list several administrative topics the district is considering, including calendar options (pre–Labor Day and post–Labor Day starts), the 2026–2027 budget, the district’s Early Middle College program and an amendment for the 2025–2026 year. The minutes also record three resignations: Sandra Oomen, Marc Pasacavis and Shannon Herrera.
The board then moved to action items. Trustee John Kirwin made the motion, supported by Vice President Janaya Hood, to approve a fall football cooperative agreement with Hesperia; the motion carried, 7 ayes, 0 nays. The minutes do not provide additional terms of the cooperative.
President George Wolgamott moved, seconded by Trustee John Kirwin, to appoint Vice President Janaya Hood as Walkerville’s representative for the West Shore ESD general fund operating budget; that motion also passed unanimously, 7 ayes, 0 nays.
The meeting closed after final comments. Trustee Michelle Tanner moved to adjourn, supported by Trustee Albert Tanner; the board adjourned at 8:00 p.m., with the motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. The minutes were signed and respectfully submitted by Board Secretary Holly Flanery.
