Council approves sprinkler installation at City Park, citing warranty and winterization benefits

The Edwardsville City Council voted May 4 to authorize the city manager to contract with Supreme Green Landworks LLC to install sprinkler systems on the city's soccer fields.

Staff recommended Supreme Green after soliciting bids and receiving two primary offers; the presenter said Supreme Green's bid included a two-year parts-and-labor warranty, two complimentary winterizations and a commitment to verticutting and reseeding disturbed turf areas. Another bidder, JMP Landscape, submitted a lower bid for fertilization-only work but did not include the same warranty or reseeding services.

Council members asked whether the proposal covered only the soccer fields or also included baseball/softball outfields; staff said the current recommendation covered the three soccer fields and that the outfields generally perform adequately but could be considered later. Council also asked how heads would be seated to avoid trip hazards and whether the contractor's warranty would require reseeding until turf established; staff said the contract includes warranty provisions to ensure reseeding and establishment.

Council member (S4) moved to approve the contract; the motion was seconded, the clerk called roll and the motion passed on an affirmative roll-call vote.

The city will fund the work as budgeted from the 2026 special sales tax, and staff said the chosen vendor will provide initial winterizations and training for city staff as part of the contract.
