Cudahy council approves routine measures: CDBG appropriation, SRO MOU, licenses and community recognitions

The Cudahy Common Council handled a slate of routine administrative and community items at its Aug. 16 meeting.
On the consent agenda the council approved minutes from multiple boards and committees and accepted claims totaling $1,613,341.67 (through June 30) and $725,248.88 (through July 31). The council approved several license-related items, including a renewal for Club 300 (agent Greg Look) pending inspections, a permanent extension of a liquor license for JC's Blue Collar Pub (agent Kyla M. Farvaur) and a temporary extension of premises for The Lodge on Layton (Joe Wagner). Those items were approved by the motions and roll call votes recorded in the minutes.
The council approved appropriation of funds for the 2017 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and confirmed the mayor's appointments to various city boards, commissions and committees. The council also approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the Cudahy Police Department and the School District of Cudahy to implement a School Resource Officer program; the minutes record the MOU's approval but provide no funding breakdown in the text.
Council members set Trick-or-Treat for Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, between 5:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M., and approved the 2017 City of Cudahy budget timetable. The Fire Chief presented the 2015 Fire Department annual report and Mayor John Hohenfeldt gave several departmental updates including the Cudahy Family Library annual report and economic development and neighborhood program updates.
The council adopted multiple resolutions recognizing local service and procedural matters, including Certified Survey Map approval for 3450 E. Armour Ave. (Res. No. 7055), recognition of Sergeant Glen Haase for 28 years of service (Res. No. 7056), recognition of Donald Mulock for four years on the Police & Fire Commission (Res. No. 7058), a declaration of official intent to reimburse certain expenditures from borrowing (Res. No. 7059), congratulations to St. John's Lutheran Church on its 110th anniversary (Res. No. 7060), and a resolution asking the Wisconsin State Legislature and governor to revise Wisconsin Statute 985 regarding publication of legal notices (Res. No. 7061).
During the public comment period Roberto Escamilla of 4550 S. Nicholson Ave. urged attention to young people being out after curfew. The meeting adjourned at 8:05 P.M.
