The Waukesha City Plan Commission approved a final site plan and architectural review for a 10,200-square-foot addition to Blifford Lumber & Hardware at 2132 Southwest Avenue. The project includes loading-dock access, additional striped parking, an expanded water service to accommodate fire sprinklers and clerestory windows on the east and north elevations to break up façades where visible from West Avenue.
Greg Prossen, the design professional for the project, explained truck turning radii and fire-access requirements, saying, “That 75 foot diameter turning circle was for a a piece of fire equipment,” and confirmed semi deliveries will back in from West Avenue. Commissioners weighed whether clerestory windows should be required on the north elevation; the recommendation approved the clerestory windows as shown by the applicant and included standard engineering and fire-department conditions. The final motion passed 5–1 (Commissioner Keller recorded as the lone no).
